The Flash 3×08 Sneak Peak & Supergirl From Earth-38
*POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT*
New Promos and Sneak Peak
The CW has released two new inside looks into this week’s epic superhero crossover event and a scene from tonight’s episode of The Flash. In them, we’ve learned Barry and Team Flash are the first to discover the aliens’ arrival and gather all the heroes. We also learn, starting with the end of yesterday’s episode of Supergirl, Cisco is still upset with Barry regarding the results of him creating Flashpoint. When Cisco is introduced to Kara, he refers to his and Barry’s relationship as co-workers. The divide between the two seems to be prevalent, as he votes for Oliver to lead the team of heroes, adding he “trust Oliver”. Both instances, Barry lowers his head and keeps quiet. The tension could prevent them from stopping the Dominators and have to find an alternative. We also learn Lyla Michaels, Diggle’s wife, has classified information about the Dominators from a previous encounter. After learning about the Dominators, Barry rushes to Star City to obtain help from Green Arrow. In doing so, he saves Oliver and Diggle from being killed by Vigilante. Thea agrees to join and Oliver has a plan to reach the Legends.
We know Barry and team find the aliens and start looking for help against the invasion. Since Wally has just received his powers and Oliver’s recruits will be needed to protect the city while he fights aliens, Kid Flash and half of Team Arrow won’t have an opportunity to join in this epic team-up. However, the rest of Team Flash will be part of the science/tech division along with Felicity. After reaching the Legends, Oliver will more than likely tell Barry, it’s still not enough. With Flash, Green Arrow, Spartan, Speedy, White Canary, Atom, Firestorm, Heat Wave, Vixen and Steel, you only have 2 metas, 3 with science-based powers, 1 with magic-based powers and 4 humans against a world-wide alien invasion. To even the odds, Barry suggest an alien of his own. Once Supergirl is introduced, the team will train until the invasion commences. However, when they split into teams, Green Arrow, Speedy, Spartan, White Canary and Atom will be captured by the Dominators after using a device to knock them all out at once. This will lead into the next episode of Arrow, where the captured heroes are connected to a dream world device to keep them trapped in their own minds.
Why Are the Aliens Attacking?
Since this is the first episode that will feature the aliens, we’ll probably learn quite a bit about them. The only thing we won’t learn right away is how to stop them. When Lyla informs Team Flash of the history between the U.S. military and the Dominators during the first encounter at the ‘
Roswell‘ Oregon incident, they learn the aliens only came to learn about our species. However, it wasn’t out of curiosity, but as research on how to destroy us. At some point in the future (approximately the 31st century), the Dominators are defeated by the Legion of Super-Heroes. This team of heroes were inspired by Superman and the Justice League. In addition, many are descendants of past heroes, so many have the meta-gene. Somehow, the Dominators are able to either send a message back through time or travel back to warn their ancestors of the threat of Earth and it’s meta-humans/heroes. After 70 years of studying and researching Earth, they cease the early opportunity to strike against them before more metas and heroes are born in the future to stop their future galactic ambitions.
Supergirl Confirmed to Hail From Earth-38
During one of the inside looks into The Flash episode, Executive Producer Todd Helbing confirmed Barry and Cisco must go to Earth-38 to bring Supergirl to Earth-1. In the comics, our actual Earth is designated as Earth-Prime. It contains no superheroes and has a linear time/space continuum. On Earth-1, where The Flash, Green Arrow and the Legends exist, superheroes exist but time doesn’t necessarily work the same as ours. However, on Earth-38, time/space is as linear as Earth-Prime, but has superheroes like Earth-1. On Earth-38, Superman made his existence known on Earth in 1939 and Batman came into existence one year later. Because time is just as linear as our Earth, the heroes and villains are generational and descendants of others. Batman’s and Superman’s kids become heroes and their kids become heroes, so on and so forth.
Was Helbing pulling our chain or is Supergirl really on Earth-38? Will that be the reason to find a way for her Earth to be combined with Earth-1? I’m sure there will be more clarification on this detail later. Until then, check out the synopsis, stills, promos and sneak peaks for tonight’s episode of The Flash.
