Arrow Episode 5×05 Promo Trailers

Spartan Returns to #TeamArrow

Four episodes into the fifth season of Arrow and we finally see the return of Diggle to the team. As we see in the third episode, Diggle is locked up in Langham Penitentiary, a military prison. He’s being framed for his ex-C.O. stealing a nuke. Still feeling guilt for killing his brother, he tells Lyla he’s accepting his punishment. With nowhere to turn, she approaches Oliver to break out Diggle. Before planning out the breakout, Felicity finds out about Oliver and Lyla’s pact and opposes them. As Ollie heads off to free Diggle, Felicity sends the recruits, minus Ragman, to stop him. In literally less than ten seconds, Oliver takes down all three recruits and heads off.

Tobias Church and Flashback Ollie Seek Revenge

With the Green Arrow gone, Tobias Church coincidentally plans to take out the Anti-Crime Unit (ACU). After planting a bomb in the evidence locker of the SCPD, he’s able to reclaim his RPGs from AmerTek. As Oliver attempts to breakout Diggle, Church has started his assault on the ACU. Although Felicity was able to convince Ragman to return, the team must take on Tobias and his men without the Green Arrow. Meanwhile, we see flashbacks of Oliver in Russia. Attempting to become Bratva to get to Konstantine Kovar, he takes out one of his money men after obtaining information. In the comics, Konstantine Kovar is the father to Leonid Kovar, the hero known as Red Star. Dolph Lundgren of Rocky IV fame is playing the Russian villain.

Recruits and Diggle Make Hard Choices

After debating how to pay their penance, Oliver is able to convince Diggle to save himself. Meanwhile the recruits attempt to save the ACU and District Attorney Adrian Chase. In the comics, Adrian Chase is known as Vigilante, a street-level hero. As the team helps the ACU and D.A. escape, Tobias throws a knife into the back of Mister Terrific. With Curtis injured, Wild Dog stays behind to fight. Outnumbered and outgunned, the recruits must leave Wild Dog behind. At the end, we see Wild Dog strung up and being tortured. As I predicted previously, Felicity would send the recruits to stop Ollie, Diggle wouldn’t want to go, and someone wasn’t leaving the fight with Tobias. Next episode, we’ll find out what Wild Dog spilled to Tobias. We’ll also find out what those consequences mean for Oliver as he calls in a favor from the Human Target.

The Human Target Arrives in Star City

The fifth episode of Arrow will bring Christopher Chance aka the Human Target to Star City. His story is like a mixture of Batman and Heroes for Hire. His father was murdered in front of him by a hitman, because he couldn’t pay a loan shark. Dying, his father told young Christopher to do something better than he had done with his life. Becoming fearless, he vowed never to let another innocent person die like his father. Chance compulsively studied martial arts and weaponry to become a private detective and bodyguard for hire. As a master of disguise, he uses himself as a human target for clients by taking on their identity and replacing them when he feels they’re in danger. Wil Traval, best known for roles as Will Simpson in Jessica Jones and Sheriff of Nottingham in Once Upon A Time, will play Christopher Cross aka the Human Target.

Arrow Season 5 Episode 5: Human Target

When Tobias Church (guest star Chad L. Coleman) captures and tortures one of Oliver’s new recruits, Oliver must turn to an old friend, Christopher Chance (guest star Wil Traval) AKA the Human Target, for help. Meanwhile, Felicity’s (Emily Bett Rickards) worlds collide when Detective Malone (guest star Tyler Ritter) joins the ACU.

Laura Belsey directed the episode written by Oscar Balderrama & Sarah Tarkoff.
