Funko and Marvel Team-Up for Animated Shorts

Funko to Team-Up With Marvel

Funko and Marvel are teaming up to create three animated shorts by the end of the year. If you haven’t heard of them, Funko is a purveyor of pop culture and licensed-focused collectibles company located in Everett, WA. It currently holds hundreds of licenses and the rights to create tens of thousands of characters, more than any other company in the licensing industry. Funko’s Pop! Vinyl is the number one stylized vinyl collectible on the market, selling millions of figures to collectors around the world. Starting as a bobblehead company in 1998, the company has expanded rapidly in both product lines and distribution, with new forays into licensed subscription boxes, apparel, housewares, accessories and more. They currently sell consumer products, toys and collectibles in thousands of stores.

Three Animated Shorts, Bobblehead-Style

On their YouTube channel and through social media, Funko has created animated shorts promoting their subscription boxes. The quality of the animation was great. I’ve enjoyed watching the animated promos. I often wondered why they didn’t attempt to create an animated series or movie based on their vinyl toys. With more licenses than Lego and it’s growing popularity, they should take advantage of their relationships by going into the animated world. One thing is for sure, it’ll be better than any Angry Birds film. Lucky for us, Funko is one step ahead. The three animated shorts will consist of Deadpool vs. Venom, Spider-Man vs. Iron Man vs. Loki, and a Rocket and Groot short with the Collector. If the shorts are successful, I’m hoping it will lead to an actual series or movie.

Will you be watching the animated shorts? Are you a fan or collector of Funko products? What do you think of them creating an animated series or movie? Would you go watch it? Let us know what you think by liking, sharing and leaving a comment below.
