New Westworld Promo For Upcoming Season

Sunday saw Westworld showcasing it’s series premiere on HBO. The long anticipated show had a successful debut after reaching 3.3 million viewers through various platforms. Based on the 1973 film by Michael Crichton, the premise of Westworld is a theme park where one can play out their wildest, even most sadistic, fantasies within a western backdrop. On the HBO website, the following is a description they give of the new series.

The one-hour drama series Westworld is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.

The cast of the 10-episode series includes Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth and Clifton Collins, Jr.

Inspired by the motion picture “Westworld,” written and directed by Michael Crichton. Production companies, Bad Robot Productions, Jerry Weintraub Productions and Kilter Films in association with Warner Bros. Television. Executive producer/writer/director, Jonathan Nolan, executive producer/writer, Lisa Joy, executive producers, J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, Bryan Burk.

The first episode was all you could ask for in a series opener. It helped us understand the inner workings of the theme park and the reasons why one would indulge in participating.  From the beginning, you see how everyone and everything appears so realistic. The quality of the technology in the theme park is seamless with real life. You delve into the history of the park by only peeling back a layer or two of the story. Before you know it, you’ve ended the first episode with numerous mysteries. It’s captivating with a slow part or two, to help you understand the history of the theme park. With an episode jam-packed with a star-studded cast, we received a very promising start to a promising series.

I’m excited for the rest of the season. I can’t wait to see how the mysteries of the theme park unravel and the consequences of it’s existence. Leave it to Michael Crichton to give us another great theme park besides Jurassic Park. Check out the new series promo for Westworld below. Have you seen the premiere episode? What did you think?
