Star Wars is the biggest sci-fi brand in the world. No one surpasses them in terms of branding, merchandise, and name recognition. You may speak German, Chinese, Spanish or Russian, but you’ll know the word ‘Jedi’. As popular as it is today, it was just 4 years ago when the popularity was at one of it’s lowest. George Lucas was 7 years removed from making Revenge of the Sith and vowed never to make the remaining 3 parts to the 9 part saga. At the time, the franchise was all but dead. Then came along a very infamous mouse and the rest is history.

Disney bought the franchise by acquiring Lucasfilm for $4 billion on October 30, 2012. When news of the purchase hit the wire, the internet lit up on fire. The buzz around town was Disney would be reviving the Force to complete the 9 part saga. Fast forward nearly a year later and Disney sets the internet ablaze, as they announce the first of a trilogy with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The revival of one of the biggest franchises had officially begun. Lucasfilm later released a schedule of future films slated through 2020. Below is an update of their schedule and movie information.
