Marvel Studios Phase 3 Schedule

The hype is starting to ramp up again for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’re less than 6 weeks away from the release of their next feature film; Doctor Strange. The movie that will bring magic and mysticism to the MCU will also mark the end of an era for Marvel Studios. 2017 will start a new era of Marvel releasing 3 movies a year for the rest of their slated films. The pace is going to pick up in the MCU, so you’ll need a guide to get you through it. Below is the remaining schedule for the rest of Phase 3.

Doctor Strange

Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Thor: Ragnorak

Release Date: November 3, 2017

Thor returns to Asgard in hopes of figuring out the meaning of his visions during the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. He needs to make sense of the frequent appearances of Infinity Stones. However, all is not as it seems in Asgard. Loki has usurped the throne from Odin, deceptively appearing as the All-Father. Worried Thor will see through his ruse, Loki makes a deal with Hela, the Goddess of Death and ruler of Hel. They banish him to a planet called Sakaar ruled by The Grand Master. Here, he runs into a familiar face; The Hulk. Unfortunately for Thor, Banner has been the Hulk too long to remember or recognize him. In order to stop Loki and Hela from enacting Ragnorak, Thor must help Hulk remember they’re friends and convince him to help escape back to Asgard.

Black Panther

T’Challa returns home to Wakanda with Bucky Barnes after the events of Captain America: Civil War. After the death of his father, taking the mantle of the Black Panther and bringing an outsider to their isolated country, internal and political power struggles start to emerge. Some take issue with T’Challa taking the mantle of the Black Panther, while others question his leadership. One man in particular, Erik Killmonger, believes he has been cheated out of becoming the Black Panther. With the power vacuum left in Wakanda due to the death of T’Chaka, Killmonger makes a deal with Ulysses Klaue to take the throne by offering him Vibranium in exchange. T’Challa must embrace his role as the Black Panther and establish himself as King in order to stop Killmonger and Klaue from depleting the Vibranium and destroying Wakanda.

Avengers: Infinity War

Release Date: May 4, 2018

Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 1-3. The Avengers are divided after the events of Captain America: Civil War. Tony Stark and the Avengers are working with the government, while Steve Rogers and his Secret Avengers are saving lives from the shadows. With Earth’s Mightiest Heroes weakened by their division, Thanos has arrived to take the Infinity Stones on Earth. Both Avengers teams arrive to try and stop Thanos to no avail. He easily dispatches and humiliates the heroes, ripping the mind gem from The Vision. Battered and defeated, the Avengers need help to stop Thanos from obtaining all the Infinity Stones. Lucky for them, Thor and Hulk have just the right Doctor for the job. As the Sorcerer Supreme, only he can conjure a bridge through space and time to bring the help they need to defeat Thanos.
